The last regular session of the 2006-07 Kosciusko County Leadership Academy took place at Grace College. The topic for the meeting was "Successfully Filling the Leadership Role."
Dr. George Slaughter, Grace College, presented information concerning how over-involvement can affect us. He emphasized that volunteering should come from a sincere desire rather than a sense of obligation. Slaughter pointed out that personal priorities often get overlooked in the rush for success.
Slaughter noted the majority of the population ranks family as highly important, yet most give their families less than first place in terms of time and energy. It's possible to simply go through the motions for appearance, Slaughter said, but the heart of volunteering is an attitude of service and a desire to positively affect the community. Slaughter encouraged KLA members to become involved in the community, but also to maintain a strong sense of what is important to them.
KLA's next session "Project Proud" will begin at 7 a.m. April 24 at the Lake Cit Bank Training Center.
