I must ask how someone can claim they disagree with me, yet all the evidence they offer just backs up my point. Someone is claiming that I put emphasis on party platform, when all I have done is pointed out that the two-party system is a major flaw in this country. They point out how Republicans such has Hoover, Reagan and George W. Bush promised one thing, yet acted entirely different.
They had a flaw in that all three engaged in Progressive polices in one extent to another. Hoover ended the Roaring Twenties by expanding government. Reagan wanted a smaller federal government, his polices enlarged our debt and curtailed freedom of the press. Bush campaigned on compassionate conservatism yet expanded the government and contracted our freedoms. Today's modern parties, both Republicans and Democrats, have been infested with Progressives. Many polices enacted over the last 100 years can be traced back to many of the ideals of Wilson and Progressivism.
Now to claim that President Obama has not delivered on progressive ideals is sadly mistaken. Someone making that claim needs to remember that universal health care has been a cornerstone of the Progressive platform for the last 100 years - starting with Teddy Roosevelt. They also claimed that the insurance companies and the pharmaceutical industry will get rich because of the health care bill. On top of that, it will create more government enforcers to make sure that the people are following the law. Of course, they will because the government-mandated that the American people carry health insurance - which has to be bought from an insurance company.
It was Roosevelt who was campaigning that people can actually become too rich, business become too big and that the government needs to prevent the accumulation of wealth. Many of the progressive presidents ever since Roosevelt have pushed some health care at one time or another during their presidency. I have stated that Obama was going to end many of the Bush polices and President Obama claimed that a John McCain presidency would be a third term for George W. Bush, yet it is Obama and the continuation of those same polices that is a third term for Bush.
Someone is also claiming that I equate Progressivism and Nazism - this cannot be further from the truth. Now Wilson was a Progressive, and a racist, but that does not make him a Nazi. As I have stated before, Nazism is socialism for one race. Nazism is just one branch of Progressivism. Today's Progressives in the United States, both Republicans and Democrats, are moving this country toward total government. I never said that I know where Wilson and Göbbels are hanging out in the afterlife - all I said is that they are in each other's company.
Someone has suggested that a smaller government is only smaller military and ending corporate welfare. How about eliminating social welfare, unconstitutional cabinet departments and getting the government out of our lives? The only freedom I advocate is freedom from Progressivism.
