OSCEOLA – Priscilla Patience Nicholas, 78, South Bend, died at 1:51 p.m. Dec. 16, 2014, in Hospice House of South Bend. She was born Feb. 21, 1936, in Wabash, to Houston and Rosetta Slagle Schaaf. In 1977, she married Jay Nicholas, who died in 2002. She loved spending time with her family, and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Surviving are nine children: Fred (and spouse Deb) Johnson and David Fruit, all of Warsaw; Sheena Watson, Mishawaka Kevin Johnson, Ferrell Beach, Fla.; Carol Chapman, South Bend; Charles (and spouse April) Denman, Florence, Ala.; Jan (and spouse Randy) Stalcup, Mishawaka; Joy (and spouse Ken) Czarnecki, Granger; and Jay (and spouse Carol) Nicholas Jr., Lake Havasu, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara (and spouse Louie) Fruit, Warsaw; and a brother, Pete Schaaf, Leesburg. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Hospice House of South Bend for their care. A graveside service was at 11 a.m. today in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, with the Rev.
