Today's primary election brought a steady stream of Kosciusko County voters in the first four hours the polls were open.
Voting began at 6 a.m. and continues until 6 p.m.
Voting was steady at the Shrine Community Building at the Kosciusko Community Fairgrounds, where Ward 3 Precinct 1 and Ward 2 Precinct 1 voters cast ballots.There are 852 registered voters in Warsaw Ward 3 Precinct 1 and 120 voters voted as of 10 a.m., according to Ward 3 Precinct 1 poll worker Don Bixel.
"We have had a very good voter turnout this morning and have had more votes cast in the first four hours than previous years," Bixel said.
For Warsaw Ward 2 Precinct 1 at the Shrine Community Building 91 voters had cast ballots as of 10 a.m. out of 794 registered voters.
"Voting has been very steady and busy and we have had a good turnout," said Kimberly Spangle, Warsaw Ward 2 Precinct 1 poll worker.
At Center Lake Pavilion where Ward 5 precincts 1, 2 and 3 voted this morning there were 37 voters out of 540 registered voters who voted as of 10 a.m.
"Voter turnout has not been as heavy as we anticipated, but we hope it will pick up this afternoon," said Ward 5 Precinct 3 Poll Inspector Warren Tatter.
At Warsaw City Hall, where Warsaw Ward 2 Precinct 2 voters voted, there were 33 voters who voted out of 578 registered voters this morning.
"It has been pretty slow here, but is easier to keep count of voters when it is this slow," said Lee Taylor, poll worker for Warsaw Ward 2 Precinct 2.
At United Pentecostal Church where Warsaw Ward 1 Precinct 1 voted, there were 225 voters who cast ballots as of 10 a.m. out of 1,234 voters.
"I think so far we have had a good turnout and always have a good turnout in this ward because people know the importance of voting," said Warsaw Ward 1 Precinct 1 Poll Inspector Beverly Brown.
Brown described the voters as upbeat in Warsaw Ward 1 Precinct 1.
At Lincoln Elementary School where Warsaw Ward 1 Precinct 2 voted there were 100 people who voted as of 10 a.m. with a total of 454 regostered voters.
"Voters have come and been spaced just right and if there have been people waiting it hasn't been more than two people at a time," said Warsaw Ward 1 Precinct 2 Poll Worker Barbara Ludwig.
Numbers were moderate this morning at Wanye Township Precinct 1 according to Poll Inspector Warren Zellner.
Zellner said about 120 of the precinct's 1,080 registered voters had voted as of 11 a.m.
At Washington Township Precinct 1, 95 of the precinct's 700 registered voters had voted by 10 a.m.
Poll Inspector Chris Bidwell said that number is busier than usual. Bidwell said late afternoon hours are typically some of the busiest on election day.
