Primary Election On Tap Tuesday

Six Republicans are vying for the the three spots for county council at-large nominations in Tuesday's primary election.

A Democrat also is seeking one of the positions.

The Republican candidates include incumbent Thomas L. Anglin, 2757 N. CR 875W, Etna Green; Aarron E. Busch, 224 EMS D17 Lane, Syracuse; current coroner Larry E. Ladd, 2350 E. CR 100N, Warsaw; Warren D. Murphy, 507 S. Union St., Warsaw; Robert G. Sanders, 3294 N. CR 600E, Warsaw; and incumbent Larry Teghtmeyer, 4086 E. Forest Glen Ave., Leesburg.

The Democrat candidate for county council at-large is Joe Banks, 1337 N. CR 400E, Warsaw.

At the county level for the primary, there are no other Democrats seeking office.

Two Republicans are vying for clerk of Circuit Court. Incumbent Sharon Christner, 2619 E. Robby Drive, Warsaw, is up against former county clerk Marsha A. McSherry, 4981 S. CR 600W, Claypool.

Republican State Sen. Kent Adams, 1303 Lakewood Hills Drive, Warsaw, is seeking office as the county treasurer against Rebecca B. Smith, 1833 S. Briarwood Drive, Warsaw.

Syracuse resident Edward Batesla, 205 E. Pearl St., wants to be the next county coroner, but first he must win over former coroner John E. Sadler, 291 EMS C29 Lane, Warsaw.

Richard Kemper, 8112 E. CR 850N, Syracuse, is seeking re-election for county surveyor. He has no opposition in the primary.

Also without opposition in the primary are incumbents Northern District Kosciusko County Commissioner Bradford L. Jackson, 309 Jackson Trail, Syracuse; and Middle District Commissioner Ronald D. Truex, 7518 W. Snyder Road, Warsaw.

Republican state convention delegates include District 3, Sue Ann Mitchell, 6200 E. McKenna Road, Warsaw; District 4, Scott E. Abbs, 731 E. Northshore Drive, Syracuse; District 5, Charlene Knispel, 713 S. Harkless Drive, Syracuse; District 6, Randall K. Girod, 8652 E. Kohler Road South, Syracuse; District 9, Tyler S. Haines, 4839 N. CR 100E, Warsaw; District 15, Avis B. Gunter, 829 W. CR 600S, Claypool; District 16, Max L. Weller, 5621 Ind. 14W, Silver Lake; District 17, D. Jean Northenor, 223 S. CR 650W, Warsaw; District 19, Chris Clark-Morrison, 608 N. Lincoln St., Warsaw; District 20, Letrecia Brown, 316 S. High St., Warsaw; District 21, Kent Adams, 1303 Lakewood Hills Drive, Warsaw; and delegates at-large: Nancy Adams, 1303 Lakewood Hills Drive, Warsaw; Anthony W. Ciriello, 12265 N. Creek Bend Lane, Milford; Daniel H. Hampton, 201 N. Maple Ave., Warsaw; Bob Morrison, 608 N. Lincoln St., Warsaw; Warren D. Murphy, 507 S. Union St., Warsaw; and C. Aaron Rovenstine, 7885 W. CR 100N, Warsaw.

Democratic state convention delegate at-large candidates include Steven R. Haines, 1223 E. Fort Wayne St., Warsaw; George Hester, 920 Anchorage Road, Lot 104, Warsaw; Emmalee Kelley, 75 EMS C22 Lane, Warsaw; and Howard Woodward Jr., 75 EMS C22 Lane, Warsaw.

Several local school boards have primary elections only.

At Tippecanoe Valley, the following candidates have filed for office with the Kosciusko County Clerk's office: District 1, David E. O'Brien, 3792 Ind. 25S, Mentone; District 2, Hal D. Hoffman, 9010 S. CR 675W, Claypool.

Wa-Nee Community School Board candidates: Olive Township, Elkhart County: Eric Brown, Wakarusa; Scott and Jefferson townships, Kosciusko County: Penny Hershberger, West CR 850N, Etna Green; at large, vote for only two: Christina Eshelman, 26469 CR 54, Nappanee; Chris Gillam, 71522 CR 15, Nappanee; Matt Gains, 63462 CR 111, Goshen.

Three candidates have filed for the three seats for Whitko School Board. They include: District 1, Michael D. Braddock, 4055 E. Pierceton Road, Pierceton; District 2, Hal E. Trump, 771 S. CR 425W, Columbia City; and District 3, J. David Tranter, 405 E. Sunset, South Whitley.

There are some races at the state level for Kosciusko County residents to consider.

State representative candidates include incumbent David A. Wolkins, Republican, District 18; incumbent William J. Ruppel, Republican, District 22; and C.L. Alfred and incumbent William C. Friend, Republicans, District 23.

For state senator, the candidates include Republicans Ryan D. Mishler, District 9; incumbent Robert L. Meeks, District 13; and incumbent Thomas K. Weatherwax, District 18.

Republicans vying for U.S. Representative, District 3, include William Larsen and incumbent Mark Edward Souder. Democrat choices include Steve G. Hope, Maria M. Parra and Mark A. Summers.

Men wanting to be Indiana's next governor include incumbent Gov. Joe Kernan and Republicans Mitch Daniels and Eric Miller.

Marvin Scott, Republican, wants to be the next U.S. senator from Indiana, but he will be up against incumbent U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh.

For U.S. president, the Republican choice is George W. Bush. There will be six Democrat choices to choose from, including Wesley K. Clark, Howard Dean, John Edwards, John F. Kerry, Dennis J. Kucinich and Lyndon H. LaRouche Jr.
