Finding love in modern times may involve social networking, sharing photos and texting.
Despite the conveniences, people still complain how hard finding love is in today’s world. Now imagine how hard it was in the early 19th century.
The Warsaw Community High School Drama Department will take audiences back to that time and struggle when it presents Jane Austen’s “Pride & Prejudice.”
Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Student tickets are $5 and adults are $8. Tickets are reserved seating and are available at the door each night or by calling 574-371-5040.
According to Director Dana McAfee, “Pride & Prejudice” is the “story about The Bennet family with their daughters who are introduced to eligible bachelors Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy. The oldest Bennet daughter, Jane, and Mr. Bingley are instantly drawn to each other but the second daughter, Elizabeth, and Mr. Darcy develop friction from the start.”
The issues of status, wealth, inheritance and love are all integral parts of the story and come into play with all of these characters. McAfee said this has been a beloved story since it was published in 1813 and “continues to be a favorite love story for all time.”
The cast of “Pride & Prejudice” includes: Annie Wray as Hill; Aaron Wainscott, Mr. Bennet; Kendra Housel, Mrs. Bennet; Abby Smith, Lady Lucas; Elizabeth Brown, Charlotte Lucas; Audrey Rich, Jane Bennet; Katie Yocum, Elizabeth Bennet; Rachel Smith, Lydia Bennet; Samuel Engle, Mr. Bingley; Lucas Cone, Mr. Darcy; Nicholas DiVaccaro, Mr. Collins; Haleigh Randall, Amelia; Cole Hoskins, Captain Denny; Colton Andrews, Mr. Wickham; Kylee Gudeman, Amanda; George Wood, young man; Gabi Bradley, Miss Bingley; Sara Hohman, Belinda; Bailey Berelsman, second young man; Marina Schuh, Agatha; Brooke Neubaum, Maggie; Lydia DeBoest, Mrs. Gardiner; Kirstin Davis, Lady Catherine DeBourgh; Jordan Fredericks, Col.
