Prep Roundup: Whitko Nets Second Win Of The Season

SOUTH WHITLEY – The Whitko boys tennis team netted its second victory of the season Monday with a 3-2 win Monday over Central Noble at home.

Micah Cokl won at No. 2 singles for the Wildcats, while Aiden Hoffman and Bryce Tucker teamed up to win at No. 1 doubles.

Whitko’s No. 2 doubles duo of Jonathan Strayer and Jackson Hollenbaugh also pulled out a victory.

The Wildcats (2-6) will host Rochester on Wednesday at 5 p.m.



Warriors Top Eagles

SYRACUSE – The Wawasee boys tennis team topped Elkhart Christian 4-1.

The Warriors (5-8) won four matches by forfeit.



Trojans Fall In Continued Match

BOURBON – In a match continued from Aug. 29, the Triton boys tennis team was blanked 5-0 Monday in a home match against Plymouth.

The Trojans (4-9) lost the JV match 2-0.



Valley Routed By Rochester

AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley dropped a match 5-0 Monday to Rochester at home.

Valley competed in each singles match, and lost both doubles matches by forfeit.



Canada, Kelly Card For Lady Vikings

LAKEVILLE – Two golfers competed for both Tippecanoe Valley and LaVille on Monday at Swan Lake Resort.

Valley’s Cheney Canada shot a 64, while Sara Kelly carded a 69.

Neither school had a total team score.



Squires’ Stout Scores Game-Winner

CONVERSE – Caleb Stout scored a game-winning goal to lead the Manchester boys soccer team to a 3-2 win Monday at Oak Hill.

Stout’s goal came in the final minute of play for the Squires’ first lead of the night.

Stout scored a goal assisted by Harley Kruschwitz, who also assisted on an Isaiah Davis goal.

Manchester is 7-0.



Calizo Sisters Score Hat Tricks For LCA

WABASH – Jessi Calizo and Tori Calizo scored three goals each to propel Lakeland Christian to a 7-1 win at Wabash.

Anna Reimink tallied a goal for the Lady Cougars (6-1-2), while Maddie Paris was in the net with six saves.

Lakeland Christian next will host Lakewood Park Christian on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.



Whitko Wavers Against Wayne

FORT WAYNE – The Whitko girls soccer team was shutout 9-0 Monday at Fort Wayne Wayne.

Julia Seifert was in the net with 22 saves for the Lady Wildcats.

Wayne scored five goals in the first half, and four in the second.



Lady Vikings Win In Four

COLUMBIA CITY – The Tippecanoe Valley volleyball team won 3-1 Monday at Columbia City.

Valley lost the first game 15-25, before winning 25-23, 25-20 and 26-24.

The Lady Vikings are 10-7. Valley’s JV team (13-5) lost 25-21, 25-23.



Wawasee Blanked By Westview

TOPEKA – The Wawasee volleyball team lost 3-0 Monday at Westview.

Wawasee (6-7) lost 25-16, 25-16, 25-21.

Hannah Gaerte tallied eight kills and eight digs for the Lady Warriors, while Elizabeth Kleopfer recorded 15 assists, Brooke Heche registered 13 digs and Madi Simmons had 12 digs.



Squire Spikers Beat Bluffton

NORTH MANCHESTER – The Manchester JV volleyball team topped Bluffton 25-21, 25-22 on Monday in a home match.

Catherine Ondrla registered eight digs, while Allison Zartman tallied five aces.

The Manchester ‘C’ Team lost to Columbia City, 18-25, 25-22, 5-15.

Alyssa Marvel had seven digs, while Lauren Barrett tallied six digs and Makenna Rickert recorded five kills.



Tigers Pounced On By Panthers

FORT WAYNE – Jacob Hawn scored a touchdown, but the Warsaw JV football team lost 38-8 Monday at Fort Wayne Snider High School.

Hawn’s three-yard rushing touchdown was followed up by a two-point reception.

The Tigers (2-2) will play Northridge on Saturday at Fisher Field.
