Prep Roundup: West Leads Wildcats Past Zebras

ROCHESTER – Led by River West’s double-double, the Whitko Wildcats edged Three Rivers Conference host Rochester 59-58 Friday night in boys basketball action.

West poured in 35 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, as the Wildcats snapped a six-game losing streak and improved to 5-9 overall and 2-1 in TRC play.

Spencer Sroufe tallied eight points, six boards and two blocks in the win, while Brett Sickafoose and Shad Ebbinghouse finished with seven and six points, respectively.

Whitko led 25-14 after one quarter of play, 33-25 at halftime and 43-36 heading into the final frame.

Jordan Reinholt led Rochester with 26 points, while Austin Utter and Brady Perez scored 14 and 11 points, respectively.

The Zebras fell to 6-4 overall and 1-1 in TRC play.

Whitko travels to conference rival Southwood Friday.

SPEICHERVILLE – The Tippecanoe Valley Vikings were outscored 20-10 in the fourth quarter Friday night and fell 58-52 at Three Rivers Conference rival Northfield.

The teams were knotted at 10 after one quarter of play, and the Vikings led the Norsemen 29-25 at halftime and 42-38 heading into the final frame.

Tanner Trippiedi led Valley with 19 points, while teammates Parkur Dalrymple and Cam Parker scored 10 points each.

Kyle Reed paced Northfield with a game-high 21 points, while Logan Peas and Joe Halderman scored 16 and 10 points, respectively.

The Norsemen improved to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in TRC play, while Valley fell to 2-8 and 0-3.

The Vikings host Plymouth tonight.

SYRACUSE – The NorthWood Panthers led 13-5 after one quarter of play and 26-14 at halftime en route to a 55-34 Northern Lakes Conference win over the Wawasee Warriors Friday night.

The Warriors, who fell to 3-7 overall and 1-1 in the NLC, scored  15 of their 34 points in the third quarter.

The Panthers, who improved to 8-2 and 2-0, got 21 points from Caleb Lung, while Kaden Gongwer and Nick Bean scored 10 and nine points, respectively.

Aaron Evans led Wawasee with nine points, with Jacob Hand chipping in with eight points.

The Warriors host Angola tonight in a makeup game.
