Prep Roundup: Wawasee Track Teams Split With West Noble

SYRACUSE – Wawasee high schools girls and boys track and field teams hosted and split with West Noble Wednesday evening.
The Lady Warriors improved to 2-0 on the season with an 88-35 victory over the Chargers.
Wawasee won 12 events in the girls meet, led by Jada Parzygnot, McKenzie Smith and Sara Pritchard who won two individual events each.
Parzygnot won the pole vault and long jump competitions, while Pritchard was the victor in shot put and discus and Smith took first in the 1,600-meter run and 300 hurdles.
Other individual winners for the Lady Warriors included Amber Beer (100), Bailey Mayhew (400), Nadia Palacios (800) and Dylan Konieczy (high jump).
The Lady Warriors won the 4x800 with the quartet of Mayhew, Smith, Emma Ebright and Courtney Cox.
On the boys side, Luke Griner was a part of three wins, but the Warriors lost the meet 70-38 and fell to 0-2.
Griner won both the 800 and 1600, and teamed with Thomas Conley, Michael Hammer and Spencer Hare to win the 4x800.
Hare took first in the 400.
Warriors Squander Lead In Loss To Apaches
WABASH – Wawasee’s varsity baseball team gave up a 5-0 lead in a 6-5 loss at Wabash Wednesday.
The Warriors scored four runs in the top of the second and added another in the fourth, but the Apaches plated one run in both the fourth and fifth innings, and two in both the sixth and seventh innings en route to the win.
Josh Slabaugh was charged with the loss on the mound after giving up four hits and two runs in an inning of work. Slabaugh came on in relief of Carter Woody, who surrendered six hits and four runs while striking out eight and walking four in five innings.
Joe Leland got the pitching win for Wabash.
Parker Young had two hits for the Warriors, including a double. Levi Brown hit two singles, and Logan Adkins hit one single.
Kallen Kelsheimer had three hits for Wabash, including a double.
Cougars Top Lady Squires In 8 Innings
ALBION – Central Noble outlasted the Manchester Lady Squires 6-5 in an eight-inning varsity softball game Wednesday.
The teams were tied 1-1 after one inning and 3-3 at the end of the third.
The host Cougars plated two runs in the fourth frame, and Manchester responded by scoring one run in both the sixth and seventh innings knot the score once again.
Central Noble outhit Manchester 15-12.
Avery Howard and Torina Runkel had three hits each for the Lady Squires.
Runkel and Emma West hit triples in the loss, while Kindra Stetzel hit a home run.
Bree Waikel and Madison Bremer had four and three hits, respectively, for Central Noble.
Runkel was charged with the pitching loss after giving up eight hits, three runs and two walks while striking out two in 5-1/3 innings.
Jenica Berkes the win in the circle. She gave up 12 hits, five runs and three walks and struck out seven in 7-1/3 innings of work.
Both Manchester and Central Noble are now 1-1 on the season.
Whitko JV Falls To Northfield
SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko’s JV baseball team fell 14-4 to Northfield Wednesday.
Corbin Ruckman drove in two runs for the Wildcats, who fell to 0-3.
