Prep Roundup: Warsaw Spikers Win Kokomo InviteKOKOMO – Warsaw volleyball coach?Rick Ashmore notched his 900th career win Saturday as the Lady Tigers won the Kokomo Tournament.

Warsaw topped Charles A. Tindley Accelerated?School 25-10, 25-6 in the title match.

The Lady Tigers reached the championship after beating Maconaquah in three games, Richmond in two and Frankfort in two.

Kacey Bragg led Warsaw (5-1) with 67 assists, 14 kills and seven blocks.

Erin Peugh had 19 digs, seven kills and five aces for the?Lady Tigers, while Kennedy Lauck tallied 19 kills and 11 blocks.



Manchester Volleyball Takes Third At Invite

ELWOOD – The Manchester girls volleyball team placed third Saturday at the eight-team Elwood Invitational.

Manchester opened the day with a 2-0 loss to Danville before rebounding with a sweep of Elwood.

The Lady Squires topped Southern Wells 2-0, before beating Lewis Cass 25-14, 25-23 to finish third.

Manchester’s Kendra Kline had 63 assists, Emma?West tallied 37 digs, Eva Bazzoni had 24 kills and Anna Osborne recorded seven aces.



Warsaw Girls Soccer Splits At Invite

SOUTH?BEND – The Warsaw girls soccer team won one match and lost another on Saturday at the South Bend St. Joseph Invite.

Warsaw (2-1) started the day with a 4-3 win over Chesterton. Junior Delaney?Taylor assisted on two goals to become the school’s all-time assists leader with 33.

Taylor also scored a goal, along with Brenna Buhrt, Abbey Steffensmeier and Corissa Koontz, who added an assist.

The Lady?Tigers’ next match was a 3-1 loss to Evansville Memorial. Steffensmeier scored the lone goal for?Warsaw, assisted by Anna Grill.



Whitko Girls Soccer Edged In Close Match

SOUTH?WHITLEY – The Whitko girls soccer team lost a close match to West Noble, 1-0, Saturday at Whitko High school.

The Lady Wildcats (0-2) will host Lakeland Christian today at 4:30 p.m.



Lakeland Christian Cougars Pounce On North Miami

WINONA?LAKE?– Theran McKeever scored a hat trick as the Lakeland Christian boys soccer team trounced North Miami 9-1 Saturday at Lakeland Christian Academy.

McKeever also assisted on two goals, while Parker Stewart tallied two goals and four assists and Micah Mansfield scored twice.

Trent Parker, Mark McQuade and Trevor Blakely scored three goals each for the Cougars (3-0), while Landon Twombly had two assists and Woodney Francois had one.

Remington Swanson had three saves in the net for Lakeland Christian.

The Cougars will host Bethany Christian at 5 p.m. Thursday.



Wawasee Boys Soccer Falls To Concord

SYRACUSE – Chris?Pena kicked in a goal, but the Wawasee boys soccer team lost to Concord, 4-1, Saturday at Wawasee High School.

Dillon Drake was in the net with four saves for the Warriors (2-1, 0-1 Northern Lakes Conference).

The JV?match ended in a 0-0 tie.



Tippecanoe?Valley Cross Country Places Seventh At Invite

LOGANSPORT – The Tippecanoe Valley girls cross country team placed seventh out of 11 teams with a score of 176 Saturday at Logansport’s Jacob Graf Memorial Invite.

Jadyn Kolesiak placed 20th individually in 22 minutes, 59 seconds, Valeria Jimenez was 23rd in 23:18, Haley Hoover was 32nd (24:41), Lorena Santiago was 53rd (26:03) and Ava Craig was 59th (26:30).

Valley’s boys team placed 10th out of 11 teams with a score of 228.

Matthew Howes finished 13th for the Vikings (19:02)

Valley’s Mitchell Smith was 28th (19:52), Chase Miller placed 71st (22:10), Jace Holloway was 80th (22:37) and Grayson Shriver was 94th (24:10).



Wawasee JV?Volleyball Wins Own Invite

SYRACUSE – The Wawasee JV volleyball team hosted and won its own invitational on Saturday.

The Lady Warriors defeated West Noble in the title match, 18-25, 25-20 and 15-8.

Wawasee swept Lakeland to start the day, before besting South Bend Washington and?Wabash, each in two games.

Delaney Hare recorded 32 assists, 22 digs, 17 kills and 16 aces, while Corin Nyce notched 32 assists, Morgan Heche had 29 digs, Kai Jamora had 28 assists, and Leslie?Vasquez tallied 22 dig and 15 kills.

Emma Dippon had 15 kills for Wawasee.

Manchester placed seventh, defeating Washingon 25-10, 25-7 in the seventh-place match after losses to West Noble, Elkhart Christian and Bethany?Christian.
