Prep Roundup: Squires Come Up Short

Posted
NORTH MANCHESTER – Delton Moore gobbled up ground, but the Manchester football team fell short in a 36-21 loss to Bluffton at home on Friday.

Moore ran for 176 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.

The Squires (0-2) held a 7-6 lead after Devin Marcum connected with Trey Clark for a touchdown pass.

They gave up the advantage, but closed the gap 16-14 in the third quarter.

After giving up another score, Manchester again cut Bluffton’s lead to make the score 23-21.

That proved to be the Squires’ final touchdown, and the Tigers tacked on insurance scores in the fourth quarter.

Manchester will travel to Wabash for a game at 7 p.m. Friday

Warriors Leave Points On Field In Loss

SYRACUSE – The Wawasee Warriors couldn’t convert high yardage into high scoring Friday in a 22-7 home loss to West Noble.

Wawasee (0-2) racked up 231 yards in the air, but scored just one touchdown late in the game.

Down 22-0, Wawasee put points on the board when Evan Eshbach connected with Dylan Hepler for a 30-yard score.

West Noble (2-0) struck first with a safety in the second quarter, and quarterback Kyle Mawhorter found Trevor Franklin to make the score 9-0 before halftime.

Brandon Pruitt’s 3-yard score in the fourth quarter put the Chargers up 15-0, and West Noble’s Chase Stoner capitalized on a Wawasee fumble for a return that gave West Noble the three-score lead.

The Warriors will begin their Northern Lakes Conference schedule by hosting Northridge at 7 p.m. Friday.
