Prep Roundup: Runkel Leads Lady Squires To Invitational Win

AKRON – Torina Runkel came in fifth to lead the?Manchester girls cross country team to victory Saturday at the Tippecanoe Valley Cross Country?Invitational.

Runkel finished in 21:00.2, while Halle Briner was seventh (21:02.9), Jaelyn Webb placed eighth (21:06.4), Kambree Cashdollar was 10th (21:17.9), and Katie Barker placed 12th (21:47.1) as the Lady Squires won with 42 points.

Tippecanoe Valley was seventh with 201 points, as Valeria Jimenez placed 27th (23:02.8), Haley Hoover came in 36th (23:56.1), Ava Craig placed 43rd (25:00.3), Lorena Santiago came in 44th (25:19.7) and Lauren Sponsellor placed 51th (26:40.6).

Whitko came in eighth (245), as Lily Spurlin placed 25th (22:56.4), while Elizabeth Foutz was 50th (26:36.3), Amaya Norman came in 53rd (26:56.6), Laura Jackson was 58th (33:00), and Zoe Foutz finished 59th (36:33.7).

Triton did not have enough runners for a team score, but Briana Wilhite ran in 24:22.5, Makenna May finished in 24:40.2, and Annie Hall ran the race in 26:00.7.

West Noble won the boys race with 21 points.

Manchester placed fourth as Carter Bedke placed 13th (18:08.5), Wilson Nettleton came in 17th (18:25.3), Ethan Davis placed 21st (18:39.8), Cade Jones was 32nd (19:12.3), and Reece Adamiec came in 36th (19:37.2).

Whitko came in 12th with 299 points in the boys event. Zack Freel was 34th (19:27.7), Jacob Porter came in 51st (20:48.9), Jayden Stratton placed 56th (21:03.3), Gavyn?Alexander was 78th (24:06.6), and Ethan Joseph placed 80th (26:17.4).

Lakeland Christian had two runners compete. David Plastow ran the race in 19:59.8, while Samuel Turner had a time of 21:55.8.

Triton placed seventh, as Russell Reichard came in 28th (18:58.5), Brandon Kitch placed 30th (19:10.3), Josiah Page was 41st (19:45.6), Jesse Page placed 43rd (19:48.7) and Breighton Treesh was 53rd (20:53.1).

Tippecanoe Valley was eighth (20:08.6). Matthew Howe was 14th for the Vikings (18:11.4), while Justin Peconga was 40th (19:44.8), Mitchell Smith placed 42nd (19:48.2), Chase Miller was 58th (21:15.5), and Jace Holloway finished 63rd (21:42.8).

Lady Warriors 9th In XC Invite At IWU

MARION – Wawasee placed ninth at a girls cross country invitational Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Kenzie Smith finished 39th for the Lady?Warriors, while Emma Ebright was 56th, Bailey Mayhew placed 57th, Cammy Kryder came in 85th and Lily Tyler was 86th.

Valparaiso won the invite.

On the boys side, Wawasee placed 14th. Michael Hammer was 68th, while Karlson Hand finished 106th, Camden Powell placed 109th, Clay Kelsheimer came in 122nd and Ben Hoffert placed 126th.



Eichenauer Leads Lady Squires TRC Tourney Win

HUNTINGTON – Kelsey Eichenauer medaled with an 84 to lead the Manchester girls golf team to a Three?Rivers Conference Tournament victory on Saturday at Norwood Golf Club.

Manchester compiled a team score of 357, while Whitko was seventh (456).

Manchester’s Madyson Ulrey was fourth (89), while Sam Kissell placed fifth (91) and Cora Barnett finished sixth (93).

Bailey Wright was 21st for Whitko (108), while Abby Arter and Summer?West tied for 28th with 115s and Erin?Starkweather shot a 118 for 31st place.

Sara Kelly and Cheney Canada competed for Tippecanoe?Valley, both in 38th with 142s.



Lady Tigers 3rd At NLC?Golf Tourney

ELKHART – Warsaw placed third and Wawasee was fifth at the Northern Lakes Conference?girls golf tournament on Saturday at Black Squirrel in Goshen.

Warsaw had a team score of 368, while Wawasee had a 385.

Warsaw’s Madelyn?Ray shot an 88, while Grayson Kilburn scored a 91, Izzy?Ray carded a 94, Julia Hildebrand had a 95 and Miriam Hagg posted a 104.

Belle Brunner shot an 86 for the Lady?Warriors, while Lesley Tayagua had a 96, Tate Cowan scored a 98, Jadison Rostochak recorded a 105, and Valerie Haessig had a 112.

NorthWood won the tournament and its seventh straight conference title.



Whitko Kickers Beat TRC Rival Wabash

WABASH – Breanna Keim scored two goals to lead the Whitko girls soccer team to a 2-0 win Saturday in a Three Rivers Conference match at Wabash.

Julia Seifert was in the net with 10 saves.



McKeever Pushes Cougars Past Caston

WINONA LAKE – Theran McKeever tallied two goals and an assist to lead the Lakeland Christian boys soccer team to a 4-3 win over Caston on Saturday in a home match.

Parker Stewart recorded two goals for the Cougars (6-2-1), while Aiden McQuade, Trenton Parker and Jacob Harmon each had an assist.

Remington Swanson and Peter Koller combined for five saves in the net for Lakeland Christian.



Trio Of Tigers Score In Win Over Concordia

WARSAW – Three players scored goals as the Warsaw boys soccer team won 3-0 Saturday in a home match against Fort Wayne Concordia.

Blake Burns, Jose Lara and Ethan Grill scored for the Tigers, while Jorge Rico and Gustav Dannervig tallied assists.

The Tigers are No. 13 in the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association Class 3A poll.



Wildcats Fall To Conference Foe Wabash

WABASH – The Whitko boys soccer team was shutout 5-0 Saturday in a  Three Rivers Conference match at Wabash.

Whitko gave up a goal in the first minute and was down 2-0 at halftime.

Triton Spikers Fall In Own Tournament

BOURBON – The Triton volleyball team dropped three matches Saturday at its own tournament.

The Lady?Trojans lost 2-1 to Bremen to start the day.

Triton then lost 2-1 to LaVille before dropping a match to Oregon-Davis, 2-0.



Triton Netters Drop Matches At Jimtown Invite

ELKHART – The Triton boys tennis team finished with three losses Saturday at the?Jimtown Invite.

Connor Large won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles as Triton lost to Lapel to start the day.

Triton then lost 5-0 to Jimtown and 5-0 to Manchester.

The?Trojans are 4-8.



Warsaw JV Spikers Win Michigan City Invite

MICHIGAN CITY – The?Warsaw JV team went undefeated Saturday at the Michigan City Volleyball?Invitational.

The Lady Tigers (9-4) won the title match against Munster, 25-20, 25-20.

Warsaw started the day by topping Penn 2-1 before beating Valparaiso 2-0 and sweeping?Kankakee Valley.

Warsaw’s Gwynn Bellamy had 24 kills, eight digs and seven blocks, while McKenna Hawblitzel recorded 46 digs, Kendra Love recorded 37 digs and six aces, and Schmidt registered 18 digs.

Tessa Wood had 12 kills and 14 digs for the Lady Tigers, while Allison Heinrich had 22 kills, 14 digs and five aces, and Abbie Porter recorded 18 digs, six blocks and six aces.



Wawasee Frosh Fall In Tourney At WCHS

The Wawasee freshman volleyball team won one match and lost three more Saturday in a tournament at Warsaw Community High School.

Wawasee (10-3) topped Concordia 2-1 before falling to South Bend St. Joseph, 2-0, Elkhart Memorial, 2-1, and Woodlan, 2-0.
