Prep Roundup: Mooney Leads Lady Squires Over Wawasee

NORTH MANCHESTER – Bailey Mooney kicked in two goals to lead the Manchester girls soccer team to a 4-0 victory over visiting Wawasee Tuesday.
Manchester’s Emma Garriott and Beletu Stout also scored, while Stout and Lainey Shock registered two assists each.
Kindra Stetzel was in the net for the shutout with seven saves.
Manchester coach Jen Birch credited her team with “solid defense” led by Lex Donathan, Hadley Schannep, Ranissa Shambarger and Gabby Brewer.
Valley Drops Match To Wabash
AKRON – Theo Mohwinkel kicked in a goal, but the Tippecanoe Valley coed soccer team lost 4-1 Tuesday in a home match against Wabash.
Valley (0-2) will host Caston at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Squires Shut Out Comets
NORTH MANCHESTER – Tuesday marked Manchester boys soccer’s second shutout in two matches.
The Squires won 7-0 at Caston. Caleb Stout had three goals, while Isaiah Davis, Konrad Borgmann, Mathias McLaughlin and Justin Self also scored.
Borgmann was in the net with six saves.
Pena Scores In Wawasee Loss
SYRACUSE – Chris Pena scored a goal but Wawasee’s boys soccer team dropped a home match, 3-1, to Bremen on Tuesday.
The Warriors are 2-2. They tied Bremen 1-1 in the JV match.
Warrior Tennis Cruises To Victory
SYRACUSE – Graham Perek and Colin Rhoades each won 10 consecutive games as the Wawasee boys tennis team topped Central Noble 4-1 Tuesday in a home match.
Jacob Krugman and Grant Brooks won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles for the Warriors (2-2), while Clayton Firestone and Zeke Keim won 6-1, 6-3 at two-doubles.
Vikings Blanked By Apaches
AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley boys tennis team fell 5-0 to Wabash Tuesday at home.
The Vikings lost both doubles matches by forfeit.
Trojans Top Bluejays
BOURBON – Carter Kuntz and Chase Butler teamed up for a sweep at No. 1 doubles as Triton’s boys tennis team defeated North Judson 4-1 on Tuesday.
John Gardner won at No. 1 singles, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, while Connor Large won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
Triton’s Tyler Heckaman and Grant Eib defeated Kyle Burkett and Zach Hughes 6-1, 7-6(6) at No. 2 doubles.
Triton is 2-2. The JV match was a 1-1 tie.
Bussard Leads Lady Vikings In Sweep
AKRON – Sophie Bussard’s 15 kills boosted Tippecanoe Valley past Winamac on Tuesday in a home volleyball match.
Valley won 25-15, 25-19, 25-11. Shayleigh Shriver recorded eight aces for the Lady Vikings.
Wawasee Falls In Four
SYRACUSE – The Wawasee volleyball team lost in four games to Central Noble in a home match on Tuesday.
Wawasee’s Madison Simmons tallied 20 digs and five aces, while Brooke Heche registered 15 digs and Elizabeth Kleopfer had 14 assists and 12 digs for the Lady Warriors.
Ashley Vazquez recorded nine assists and Janae Hapner had seven kills. for the Lady Warriors
Emma Dippon tallied four kills and four aces as the Wawasee JV volleyball team topped Central Noble 25-17, 25-13.
Morgan Heche recorded 10 digs for Wawasee (7-1), while Corin Nyce had nine assists and Kai Jamora registered five assists.
The Wawasee freshman volleyball team defeated Central Noble 25-9, 25-18.
Laney Gross led the Lady Warriors (2-0) with eight assists, three aces and two kills.
Trojans Can’t Halt Lions
BOURBON – Triton’s varsity volleyball team couldn’t pull out a home victory Tuesday in a 3-1 loss to Bremen.
Dylanie Miller registered 19 assists, while Molly McFarland had 14 digs and Sydney Musilli had 13 digs for the Lady Trojans.
Alyxa Viers registered eight kills, while Abbey Viers spiked seven kills and Lexia Hostrawser had six kills.
Manchester Shut Out By Adams Central
MONROE – The Manchester volleyball squad fell to 4-2 on the season with a 3-0 loss at Adams Central.
The Lady Squires (4-2) lost 25-16, 25-22, 25-14. Eva Bazzoni tallied six kills, Kendra Kline nine assists and Emma West 13 digs.
Manchester’s JV team lost 25-18, 25-17.
Warsaw Routs Columbia City
Warsaw’s freshman football team trounced Columbia City 50-16 Tuesday at Fisher Field.
Warsaw’s Daniel Lopez ran back a kick to put the first points on the board, while Sammy Smith, Julius Jones and Lucas Wrenn also scored touchdowns.
With the win, Warsaw defeated Columbia City at the freshman, JV and varsity levels this season.
Lakeview Teams Top Lincoln
WARSAW – Lakeview’s eighth grade football team defeated Lincoln 14-6.
German Flores and Kyle Schnackenberg scored touchdowns.
Lakeview’s seventh grade team topped Lincoln 8-6, with Jack Hill scoring a touchdown and Kaden Long scoring a two-point conversion.
