Warriors Come Up Big With 1-0 Win
TOPEKA?– Chris Pena scored the only goal of Wawasee’s 1-0 boys soccer win over Westview on Tuesday.
Pena’s goal came on a penalty kick in the 54th minute of play. Goalie Dillon Drake came up with a penalty-kick save in the final minute of play for the Warriors (1-0).
Drake finished with nine saves. The Warriors’ JV team defeated Westview, 4-2.
Lakeland Christian Ties With Bethany?Christian
GOSHEN – Lakeland Christian Academy and Bethany?Christian finished a girls soccer match in a 2-2 tie Tuesday at Bethany?Christian.
Ana Reimink and Tori Calizo scored goals for Lakeland Christian, while Meg Heinisch scored both of Bethany?Christian’s goals.
Maddie Parri was in the net with 13 saves for the Lady?Cougars.
Whitko Drops Match To Garrett
GARRETT – The Whitko girls soccer team gave up three goals in the second half to open its season with a 4-0 loss at Garrett on Tuesday.
Wawasee Consistent In Girls Golf Win
SYRACUSE – Wawasee had four players score in the 40s to top West Noble 184-201 in a girls golf match Tuesday at Maxwelton Golf club.
Belle Brunner shot a 42, while Valerie Haessig scored a 46, Jadison Rostochak and Tate Cowan each had 48s, and Taylor Cripe carded a 51.
West Noble’s Hannah Godfrey was the medalist with a 38.
The Lady Warriors (5-2) will next play at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the Rochester Invite at Rochester High School.
Eichenauer Leads Lady Squires To Victory
WINONA?LAKE – Kelsey Eichenauer shot a 39 to lead the Manchester girls golf team to a 185-251 victory over Triton on Tuesday at Stonehenge Golf Club.
Sam Kissell shot a 44 for the Squires (4-0), while Madyson Ulrey carded a 50, Cora Barnett and Morgan Stroud each had 52s and Alissa Bickerstaff recorded a 57.
Caston also competed, but did not have a team score.
Whitko Girls Golf Falls To Northfield
WABASH – The Whitko girls golf team was edged by Northfield, 216-220, on Tuesday.
Bailey Wright medaled with a 49 for the Wildcats, while Summer West shot a 56, Augusta Garr carded a 57 and Erin?Starkweather had a 58.
Whitko’s JV team defeated the Lady Norsemen 239-260.?Guinny Garr led Whitko with a 52, Lilly Owsley shot a 59, Jaycie Thomas had a 63 and Abby Arter carded a 65.
Whitko will host Triton and Southern Wells on Thursday.
Whitko Boys Tennis Defeats Northrop
FORT?WAYNE – The Whitko boys tennis team topped Northrop 3-2 in a match Tuesday in Fort Wayne.
Micah Cokl won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, while Aiden Hoffman won at two singles by scores of 6-1, 7-5.
The No. 1 doubles duo of Nate Smith and Bryce Tucker breezed to a 6-1, 6-2 victory for the Wildcats.
Tippecanoe Valley Tennis Sweeps Bremen
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley struggled to get much going in a 5-0 loss to Bremen Tuesday in a boys tennis match at Tippecanoe?Valley?High School.

BOURBON – The?Trojans earned wins at No. 3 singles and NO. 1 doubles, but lost a tough match to John Glenn 3-2 on Tuesday at Triton High School.
Connor Large won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Trojans (0-1), while Carter Kuntz and Chase Butler teamed up for a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles.

Wawasee Boys XC Opens Season With Win
BREMEN – Wawasee’s boys cross country team began its season by finishing first in a four-team meet with a score of 24 on Tuesday at Bremen High?School.
Wawasee’s Spencer Hare placed first in 17:54 while his teammate, Michael Hammer, finished second in 18:29.
Karlson Hand came in sixth in 19:18 for the Warriors, while Thomas Cloney followed in seventh in 19:25 and Ben Hoffert was eighth in 19:26.
NorthWood placed second with a team score of 39, while Bremen (59) was third and Fairfield (120) was fourth.
Wawasee Girls Place Second In Season Opener
BREMEN – The Wawasee girls cross country team finished second in a four-team meet Tuesday at Bremen High School.
Wawasee had a team score of 44.?Emma Ebright was the highest-placing runner for the Lady Warriors (2-1), followed by Ella Beazley, Bailey Mayhew, McKenzie Smith, Cammy Kryder, Autumn Turner and Mariah Hurst.
NorthWood placed first with a score of 34, while Bremen (62) was third and Fairfield (84) was fourth.
Warsaw Falls In Opening Volleyball Match
LEO-CEDARVILLE – The Lady Tigers took Game 3 but lost in four to Leo Tuesday in a girls volleyball match at Leo High School.
Warsaw lost 25-21, 25-20, 23-25 and 25-23.
Katie Swanson had nine kills and eight digs for the Lady?Tigers (0-1), while Kacy Bragg tallied six kills, five digs, three blocks and 25 assists.
Warsaw’s Betty?Barnett recorded six kills, Kennedy?Lauck had five kills, Kylie Smith tallied 23 digs, Elizabeth Schmidt recorded 10 digs and Addie Dickeroff had five digs.
Warsaw’s JV?team (1-0) topped Leo 25-23, 25-14. Katie Schmidt led the squad with six assists, four digs and two aces, while Abbey Porter notched 11 assists and three aces.
