Prep Roundup: Bussard Boosts Valley To Win Over Logansport

LOGANSPORT – Sophie Bussard got her groove back to lead the Tippecanoe Valley girls basketball team to an 82-51 win Tuesday at Logansport.
Bussard bounced back from shooting 4 of 19 against Warsaw to score a game-high 35 points.
Logansport (1-3) led 6-0 before the Lady Vikings (3-1) finished the first quarter on a 21-0 run.
They carried a 48-21 lead into halftime, and cruised to a double-digit victory in the second half.
Emma Craig scored a career-high 16 points for the Lady?Vikings.
Valley will play Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. at Maconaquah.
Whitko Wins TRC?Opener
SOUTH WHITLEY – Ellie Snep tallied 16 points and 17 rebounds to lead the?Whitko girls basketball team to a 50-43 home Three?Rivers Conference win Tuesday against Peru.
Whitko’s Emalee Duggins scored a game-high 24 points.
“I can’t say enough about the leadership and effort of (Emalee Duggins and Snep),” said Whitko coach Rick Bragg. “They are playing some really great basketball, and more importantly provide wonderful leadership to the rest of the team.”
Whitko (2-3, 1-0 TRC) will play Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Huntington North.

Wawasee Wavers
Against?Lakeland
LAGRANGE – The Wawasee girls basketball team struggled offensively in a 54-34 loss Tuesday at Lakeland.
Danielle Jenkins and Casey Schroeder scored eight points each for the?Lady Warriors (2-3).
Wawasee scored just 15 points in the first half to be down by 15 at halftime. Though the Lady?Warriors matched Lakeland in third-quarter points, they were outscored in the fourth for the 20-point loss.
Lakeland (2-1) was led by Bailey Hartsough’s 21 points.
Wawasee will play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Triton.
The Lady Warriors won 33-13 in the JV game.
Wawasee’s Becca Smith had 12 points and six rebounds, while Abby Steiner added nine points.
CHURUBUSCO – The Lakeland Christian girls basketball team suffered its first loss of the year with a 40-21 loss Tuesday at Churubusco.
Lakeland Christian was outscored in each quarter. The Lady?Cougars were down 11-6 after the first, and went into the break down by double digits.
From there, the Lady Cougars scored just eight second-half points as Churubusco (1-2) rolled to a win.
Tori Calizo tallied seven points and three rebounds for Lakeland Christian, while Anna Reimink added seven points, Jessi Calizo posted five rebounds and Carly O’Hara pulled down five rebounds.
The?Lady Cougars will host Lakewood Park Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
