Pregnant Woman Struck In Stomach; Charges Filed Against BoyfriendAfter allegedly hitting his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach because he wanted their child to die, a Warsaw man is facing three domestic battery charges.
Lance Michael Jervis, 29, of 1121 E. Wellington Drive, Warsaw, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 1:29 p.m. Saturday on a preliminary charge of domestic battery and bond of $6,000.
Court documents filed Wednesday list the charges against him as domestic battery to a pregnant woman, a level 5 felony; domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
He has since been released on his own recognizance with an initial hearing set for 1 p.m. Feb. 28 in Kosciusko County Superior Court III.
A no contact order was entered on Wednesday.
On Saturday, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy James Smith responded to a domestic incident. When he arrived, Smith met with the victim, who said her boyfriend and father of her unborn baby – Jervis – became angry and hit her one time in the stomach and twice on her face.
Smith saw and took photos of red marks on her stomach area and face.
The victim told Smith that Jervis said he wanted their baby to die.
Present when Jervis hit the victim were three children.
Smith talked with one of the children, who said he saw Jervis hit his mother three times, including once in the belly and twice on the head.
A relative of Jervis told Smith that she was in the kitchen area when she heard the argument between Jervis and the victim.
