Power Out After 'Arrester' Blows On NIPSCO Line

Posted

Power was out in a large area northeast and northwest of Warsaw Tuesday evening after a NIPSCO lightning arrester blew up on a transmission line near Warsaw Municipal Airport.

The NIPSCO snafu also caused two REMC substations to shut down, according to Jeff Buell of REMC. The outage occurred about 7:30 p.m.

The most affected areas remained without power for about one hour and 20 minutes. Most of the customers without electricity were located around the airport, but a smaller outage extended to just south of North Webster.
