SYRACUSE – A Syracuse man was arrested Wednesday on theft and drug charges after officers discovered methamphetamine paraphernalia and a synthetic drug inside his home.
According to a press release issued by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Syracuse Police Department officers began investigating Jason Paul Halsey, 40, Syracuse, after he was identified as a suspect in the theft of a power drill from the Syracuse Ace Hardware. Officers located the power drill in Halsey’s residence during the execution of a search warrant of his property at 9485 N. Ind. 13, Syracuse.
During the search Wednesday at approximately 6 p.m., Drug Force Task and SPD officers also located items associated with the production of methamphetamine and a substance believed to be an illegal synthetic drug.
Halsey was then taken into custody and preliminarily charged with felony theft, possession of a synthetic drug or cannabinoid and possession of precursors used in the production of methamphetamine. He was held on a $2,000 bond.
The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office also assisted KCSD and SPD with the investigation.
