A Silver Lake man received four years in prison Thursday after pleading guilty June 7 to hitting a 1-year-old.
Christopher A. Powell, 21, was booked in Kosciusko County Jail Feb. 20 on $5,000 bond for aggravated battery.
The charge came after Multi-Township EMS responded to a call of an injured 1-year-old that was in Powell's care
Powell initially told EMTs that the child had fallen, but when questioned by police he admitted to striking the child.
Powell reached a plea agreement and pleaded guilty to battery causing serious bodily injury.
Kosciusko Circuit Court Judge Rex L. Reed handed down a six-year sentence to Powell with two years suspended, which he will serve on probation.
