Potpourri: Baby Box Interest Expands To Turkey Creek Fire Territory

Posted
Last week, we told you about the desire to establish a Safe Haven Baby Box, possibly at a fire station in Warsaw, and a related fundraiser seeking $5,000 to support the endeavor.

The fundraiser organized by Kristi Ormsby hit its mark in less than a week, but organizers are leery of announcing anything formal until a location is nailed down.

Sixty two folks pitched in on the fundraiser, and Ormsby, expressed appreciation.

“I am grateful for the outpouring of public support. It was refreshing to see the community be able to find common ground and come together to value the lives of both the child and mother,” Ormsby said.

Meanwhile, Turkey Creek Fire Territory in Syracuse is expected to discuss its own interest in establishing a baby box. The territory board will meet at 6:45 p.m. Monday at Syracuse Town Hall, according to Fire Chief Mickey Scott.

“We’d rather be pro-active than reactive,” Scott said.
