Porter B. Williamson, 93, died recently after a decade-long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.
He was born April 12, 1916. He is survived by his wife, Jennie, who he married in June 1943.
He was an attorney, military officer, aviator, university instructor and author. He was a county prosecutor in Kosciusko County before being called to service in World War II. He served with General Patton at the Desert Training Center, then transferred to the Army Air Corp and subsequently served as CO of the 424th Night Fighter Squadron. Years later, he wrote a book about the principles General Patton used to instill unprecedented motivation and success in his troops. He moved his family from northern Indiana to Tucson in 1963.
Also surviving are a son and a daughter.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Tucson.
