Poppy Time

Editor, Times-Union:

It's poppy time again. Time to keep the memory of our veterans alive - really we should do it all year long. After all, we owe our everyday freedoms to all those who have fought for them in the past and still fighting now.

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 49 of Warsaw is organizing its annual "Poppy Days". May 1 has been set aside for distribution of these small lovely red flowers. When you see the American legion "Family Of Three" on the street corners or at area merchants, please get a poppy to wear. The donations are used for veterans and their families. Also, show your respect for our veterans by attending Memorial Day services in your towns.

So put all your political differences aside and remember the price some paid so you can have your tea parties. Remember how the poppy came to be in "Flanders Field" many years ago. And also remember all those continuing to fight for "Iraqi Freedom". As the song states "Some Gave All" God bless the men and women serving our great nation. God Bless America.
