Editor, Times-Union: As in Obama’s own words “elections have consequences.” Political ramifications lie well beyond Sandra Fluke, immigration or unions. For those who bought into the rhetoric chose to ignore the truth, or didn’t do their homework, their blissful ignorance has far-reaching consequences for all. It’s not too late, however, to get informed. More than $3 billion taxpayers were given to the notoriously corrupt anti-American, anti-capitalists, un-democratic United Nations organization last year. Once again, without the knowledge of the American public, the Law of the Sea Treaty AKA: (Lost) is being shoved through the legislature under false pretense. This law will be a massive wealth giveaway causing a loss of U.S. sovereignty, impress various international taxes, allows foreign nations to regulate U.S. energy emissions, and gives the U.N. power and control more than 70 percent of the earth’s surface. President Reagan rejected this treaty in 1982, however, President Obama is pushing this extreme controversial agreement. Ratification of the treaty would subject the U.S. to unwieldly environmental regulations with ulterior political objectives. It’s sweeping power grab reaches well beyond good intentions. Shouldn’t we be asking ourselves why we want to empower an organization who has such conflicting interests from ours? Again, accountability eludes those who allegedly represent “we the people.” Our “One Nation Under God” is being further derogated. In the words of Ronald Reagan, “If we ever forget that we’re one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.” Deborah Conley Warsaw
