The concept of blindfolded Lady Justice holding an evenly balanced scale is a myth. If that were true every decision handed down by the Supreme Court would be 9-0.
My psychologist niece says all of us are part of our past. Sociologists call it socialization; psychologists call it baggage. One would think that by the time one is qualified to be appointed to the Supreme Court of this country, he/she would have filtered out the baggage that through the years has been acquired through osmosis, peers, popular culture, media, etc.
The policy of disallowing corportions and unions to buy their way into dominating public policy has been an American icon since the mid-20th century. What a tragedy that this court has turned that upside down.
Public policy is now on the auction block and here we are trying to tell other countries how to run their affairs - what a disconnect. I fear the conditions have been planted for corruption to run rampant.
Few people have much good to say about Washington but wait, we may be in for the resurgence of the Robber Barons of the 19th century. We will see a crescendo of the buying of legislators, as in chattel, like I have not seen in my lifetime.
Money talks and big money shouts, drowning out the little people - the you's and the me's. This way the rich get richer and more powerful and we in the middle class become voiceless and disenfranchised. God help us, but my pathologist nephew holds that God has nothing to do with it. It is we humanoids that muddy the waters of this planet.
Any thoughts on how to impeach, disbar or otherwise invalidate this court?
