Police are warning senior citizens in the area of a home improvement scam.
According to Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department Detective Todd Sautter, two men are approaching senior citizens and telling them their homes have faulty shingles or need other roof repairs. The men then ask if they can fix the roof. The men, once they receive the money or check, leave and don't complete the work.
An elderly lady in Etna Green was charged an estimated $3,000 and the roof was left in worse condition than before the men began work.
The men, from the Huntington area, also allegedly have pulled similar scams in Huntington and in Ohio.
"They are involved in this thing all over the place," said Sautter.
If approached by the men to do any roof repair, he recommended getting as much information from them as possible, telling them you are not interested and then contacting local police.
