Police Warn Of Possible Scam

Posted

Police are warning residents not to divulge their bank account numbers to anyone calling them on the telephone.

According to a press release issued by the Warsaw Police Department, local banks are reporting their customers are being contacted by representatives of a company called IC Group. The bank customers are being told they are eligible for a device, worth $489, to put on the telephone to prevent or stop soliciting.

The caller requests bank account and routing numbers.

Those being contacted have been given company telephone numbers that do not return to that business.

The victims of this apparent scam are usually older residents who may be vulnerable to this type of activity, police said.

The IC Group or anyone representing this company do not appear to be legitimate.

If anyone has questions about such activity, he or she should immediately contact local law enforcement and/or their bank.
