COLUMBIA CITY -ÊThe Columbia City Police Department is on the lookout for a man who robbed a bank in Columbia City Thursday afternoon.

A 30- to 40-year-old white man, approximately 6 feet tall, entered the Bank One at 620 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, around 1 p.m. Thursday.

The suspect was wearing a ball cap, jersey shirt and shorts when he walked into the bank and demanded money. The man did not display a weapon and left the bank, heading west on foot, after he received an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to Columbia City Police Capt. Brian Anspach, the suspect is believed to have gotten into a red full-sized four-wheel-drive pickup truck with silver decals that headed south on Ind. 9. He then got on U.S. 30, but it is not known whether he was headed eastbound or westbound. No one was injured in the incident.

This is the first bank robbery in Columbia City since 2001 when the People Federal Savings bank was robbed.

Anyone with information about the robbery should contact the Columbia City Police at 260-2487-5121.

The Whitley County Sheriff's Department, the Indiana State Police, Whitley County Drug Task Force and the Fort Wayne Bank Robbery Task Force assisted in the investigation.
