Police Seek Armed Robbery Suspect

Posted

Police are seeking information about an alleged armed robber who fled a Warsaw gas station Saturday night with an undisclosed amount of cash.

An employee of the Phillips 66 on South Buffalo Street called police after the 11:30 p.m. incident during which a customer was reportedly ordered to the ground inside the business. The suspect was allegedly armed with a silver gun, possibly a 9-mm.

The suspect is described as a white male, 18 to 20 years old, about 6 feet tall and weighing about 150 pounds. At the time of the alleged robbery he was wearing a green nylon hooded jogging-type shirt, black sweat pants, a black ski mask and black gloves.

The suspect was last seen running east from the business toward a wooded area.

According to a Warsaw Police Department report, an employee was on his knees behind the cash register counter getting cigarettes for a customer when he saw the suspect out of the corner of his eye and the man was reportedly pointing a gun at him. The suspect threw a silver plastic bag at him and told him to give him all the money. After the employee emptied the register drawer, the suspect allegedly said he wanted "all" the money, and the employee then got the money from the other cash register as well.

The suspect then fled from the store.

A police K-9 was brought in to track the suspect, but the dog lost the trail a short distance from the business. Police believe the suspect got into a vehicle at that location.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Warsaw Police Department at 372-9511.
