Woman Injured, Man Arrested In Motorcycle Wreck Thursday
LEESBURG - A Pierceton man is in jail, and a North Webster woman is hospitalized after a motorcycle wreck Thursday.
According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Charles Alan Taylor, 56, of 3252 N. Ind. 13, Pierceton, was riding a motorcycle on Ind. 15, near Van Buren Street, Leesburg, Thursday evening when he turned his motorcycle on its side.
Taylor and his passenger, Glynda Jones, 41, Crystal Flash Road, North Webster, got back on the motorcycle but came off again shortly after Taylor turned onto Van Buren Street.
Jones' left foot was caught on a curb, causing a severe fracture.
Jones originally was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital, then later airlifted by Lutheran Air Ambulance to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Jones was listed in fair condition as of this morning.
A portable breath test given to Taylor showed a blood alcohol content of .196.
Toxicology results on Taylor and Jones are still pending.Syracuse Teens Admit To Causing Damage At Cemetery
SYRACUSE - The Syracuse Police Department investigation of damage at Syracuse Cemetery yielded some results Wednesday.
During an interview with SPD Wednesday, Anthony R. DeLeon, 19, of 305 W. Pearl St., Syracuse, admitted that he and two friends went to the cemetery and spray painted headstones, signs and a building.
Thursday, two juveniles, both 17, whose names weren't released by SPD, admitted to their role in the damage.
DeLeon was booked into Kosciusko County Jail on criminal mischief charges, and his bond was set at $2,000.
The juveniles were both released to the custody of their parents, and charges are being filed through the Kosciusko County Probation Department.
North Manchester Man's Rape Charge Changed
SILVER LAKE - An investigation by the Silver Lake Police Department has resulted in the arrest of a North Manchester man.
Andrew Joseph West, 20, of 304 N. Walnut St., North Manchester, originally was arrested for rape and booked into Kosciusko County Jail Wednesday evening.
Since then, West's charges have been changed from rape to sexual misconduct.
West's bond was dropped from $10,000 to $5,000.
Silver Lake Town Marshal Craig Hollopeter declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.
