Teen Arrested In Syracuse Thefts
SYRACUSE - A series of thefts in the Wawasee High School parking lots allegedly have been linked to a teenager.
According to Syracuse Town Marshal Tony Ciriello, a 17-year-old boy reportedly admitted to breaking into and stealing items from cars in the school parking lot.
The Syracuse Police Department and the Wawasee School resource officer joined forces to investigate a series of break-ins that occurred over a two-day period.
The teen was caught just off school property Thursday after he allegedly broke into more vehicles.
When police interviewed the boy, he reportedly admitted his involvement with several other thefts from vehicles and burglaries in the Syracuse and North Webster areas. The boy, however, was not part of a group of juveniles recently arrested for similar crimes in the area.
Several of the stolen items were recovered from the teen's home and other places where he had reportedly hidden the items.
The boy faces charges through the juvenile probation department.
