Sunday Stop Yields Drug Arrest

Details of a drug bust Sunday were released by Indiana State Police Wednesday afternoon.

Four people were arrested Sunday along U.S. 30 after a traffic stop led to the discovery of more than 300 grams of marijuana and 100 grams of cocaine.

Sarah Lynn Shaw, 26, Fort Wayne, was pulled over in 2008 Chevy Malibu after an Indiana State Trooper out of Indianapolis clocked her going 90 mph in a 60 mph zone.

The officer was working in Kosciusko County as ISP has increased patrols in the area.

The officer noted in his report that he smelled what he believed to be burnt marijuana inside the vehicle after he pulled it over.

After a search of the car, he found the narcotics and placed Shaw, along with Roosevelt Allen, 24, Fort Wayne; Ochieaunna Maxwell, 18, Fort Wayne; and Phillip Tate, 18, North Chicago into custody.

All four were booked into Kosciusko County Jail on charges of dealing marijuana, dealing cocaine, possession of narcotics and possession of marijuana. All four of their bonds were set at $20,000.

By law, 30 grams or more of marijuana and 3 grams or more of cocaine leads to a felony charge of dealing.

Officers also recovered $600 in cash from the vehicle.

A member of the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force stated that, typically, marijuana goes for $140 a gram on the street and cocaine typically goes for somewhere between $800-$1,000 an ounce.
