Police Probe Break-Ins At Webster Lake

Posted

NORTH WEBSTER - Three burglaries were reported over the weekend to summer residences near North Webster.

A caretaker called Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department Sunday and reported a break-in to a trailer belonging to Dave Cesaretti, Warsaw. The trailer is located on Backwater Road.

A neighbor reported that two nearby cottages owned by Richard Nichols of Ocala, Fla., were also broken into.

Police said that the burglaries are "probably related" to each other and to several other burglaries in the area reported over the past month.

Ptl. Jeff Bronsing, the officer investigating the most recent break-ins, said that caretakers are finding the crimes as they check on the properties and are not sure when the break-ins occurred. Police believe the burglaries happened within the last 30 days.

Bronsing also said the suspects do not appear to steal much from the properties. At Cesaretti's trailer, police reported numerous candles and matches, leading them to believe the suspects may be juveniles who are "playing."

Entry to the properties was gained any way the suspects could get in, Bronsing said. Damage included broken windows, locks, doors and screens. Drawers and furniture inside the cottages were ransacked.

The investigation continues into these burglaries and a string of break-ins to summer trailers located nearby.
