Police Post Video Of Car On Husky Trail After Fatal AccidentWarsaw police released a video Thursday of a vehicle that turned northbound onto Husky Trail from North Point Drive just prior to the fatal accident Monday involving a child.
Information released with the video states that WPD is trying to find the driver of the vehicle. “The driver is simply a potential witness to the environment seconds before the collision occurred and could be helpful to investigators,” the release states.
Police believe the vehicle is a silver or white Ford Focus and has an “In God We Trust” license plate.
The video can be found on the Warsaw Police Department Facebook page, as well as the Times-Union Facebook page and website at www.timesuniononline.com.
The 8-year-old boy killed Monday was Gidieon Cook, who recently finished second grade at Harrison Elementary School.
At 1:47 p.m. Monday, WPD, along with other first responders, were dispatched to an injured child call in the area of Husky Trail at North Pointe Drive.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Cook had been struck by a 2008 black Nissan Sentra.
Cook was taken from the scene by Lutheran EMS. While enroute to Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital, EMS diverted to Whitley Parkview in Columbia City, where Cook was pronounced dead by Parkview Hospital medical staff.
Preliminary investigation indicates Cook had been crossing Husky Trail at the crosswalk at the time of the collision.
The driver of the vehicle, Raven L. Loubert, 24, has cooperated in the investigation by providing a blood draw as well as a consensual search of her cellphone. Investigators are awaiting results of the forensic cellphone download and the toxicology report, a previous release states.
Multiple witnesses remained at the scene of the accident and have been interviewed by investigators.
The vehicle involved was towed to the Warsaw Police Department for processing.
