Police Investigate Stabbing Report

Officers found a 54-year-old woman lying outside her apartment with injuries to her stomach Thursday night after an alleged stabbing.
According to a Warsaw Police Department press release, officers and EMS were dispatched to the 400 block of South High Street around 8:30 p.m. Thursday and found the woman lying in the entry of her upstairs apartment.
Medics and fire personnel treated her and she was transported by ambulance to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, where she remains in stable condition.
The victim initially told officers that she had just returned home, unlocked her apartment, carried two bags inside to her kitchen and went back out to retrieve a bottle of Pepsi. She stated she then saw two men in her apartment who demanded her wallet and car keys.
The victim alleged she gave them her wallet and was searching for her keys when she was stabbed. She stated the men then fled south from the apartment. She told police the men were wearing ski masks, black clothes and gloves.
Law enforcement searched the area, instructing residents to say inside and lock their doors while K-9 officers attempted to track the suspects.
According to the press release, investigators are still trying to determine if the incident actually occurred as alleged. The incident is still under investigation.
