Posted

CROMWELL - Police believe a fire at an Enchanted Hills residence was the result of a methamphetamine lab accident.

A neighbor spotted the fire and called 911, but the occupants of the home reportedly removed some of the dangerous chemicals used in the methamphetamine manufacturing process before units from the Syracuse Fire Department arrived. No injuries were reported.

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, emergency crews were called to the residence at 11758 Sir Lancelot Lane shortly before 7:30 p.m. The name of the homeowner was not available.

Extensive damage was found to the stove and countertop area of the kitchen, but the fire had burned itself out before fire personnel got there.

Several items associated with manufacturing meth were seized from the home.

Cromwell Police Department also assisted at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.

Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine stresses the importance of community involvement in eliminating illegal drug activities. Anyone who suspects a meth lab operation or any other type of illegal drug activity should call the Kosciusko County Special Operations Team at 372-2494 or the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department at 267-5667.
