Trailer Theft Lands Three in Jail Warsaw police arrested three people Thursday while investigating a stolen trailer from earlier this week.
A Leesburg man reported that his trailer was stolen from a home on EMS T31 Lane, Leesburg Tuesday.
Thursday, a witness and friend of the complainant called police and said he saw his friend’s trailer hitched to a pickup truck traveling around Warsaw.
Later, the trailer was found in the 1700 block of Willow Lane in Warsaw, and the pickup that had been hauling it was found at Fairview Apartments, 1650 E. Smith St., Warsaw.
Officers questioned Brandy A. Peconga, 29, who lives in one of the apartments.
Loren Lee Huff, 51, of the same apartment complex, was inside Peconga’s apartment when police arrived.
When police asked Huff for his ID, he went to a bedroom and removed an ID from a drawer.
Officers reported seeing a blue glass smoking pipe in the drawer Huff opened.
Huff was later found to have four outstanding warrants for forgery.
Peconga was asked if anyone else was in the apartment. She said no, but when police searched the apartment they found Jonathan Andrew York, 34, hiding in a closet.
The witness who reported the stolen trailer to police identified York as the driver of the pickup.
York told police he had no knowledge of the stolen trailer.
Police also said that the trailer had been parked in front of a relative of Peconga’s home for almost three days on Wexford Place.
The relative told police she was told the trailer belonged to a relative of York’s.
Items reported stolen that were inside the trailer initially were found at the home on Wexford Place.
Peconga was booked into Kosciusko County Jail on a charge of filing a false police report. No bond was set.
Huff was booked in on $5,350 bond.
York was booked on possession of stolen property and held on $2,000 bond.
Warsaw Police Department Public Information Officer Kip Shuter said the investigation is still ongoing and more charges may be filed.
