A second man was taken into custody after police discovered a mobile meth lab inside a vehicle Tuesday.
Jerrod Turpen, 29, of 539 Buck Trail. Warsaw, was taken into custody around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday following a tip that he was hiding in a van north of Warsaw in North Riverwood Estates subdivision.
Turpen was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail and charged with dealing methamphetamine, possession of a precursor and resisting law enforcement and held on a $4,000 bond.
Warsaw narcotics officers were assisted by the Indiana State Police in Turpen’s apprehension.
Turpen and Trace Skinner, 51, Leesburg, were sought after fleeing from an officer Tuesday. The off-duty officer had stopped to check on the two who were inside a stopped vehicle on CR 100E south of CR 350N in Warsaw. After the two fled, the officer looked inside the vehicle and found several items used to manufacture methamphetamine.
A short time after the incident, Skinner was located walking on CR 450N and told police he had been picked up and they were on their way to purchase meth manufacturing products when their SUV stopped running. Skinner was charged with possession of precursors and held on a $2,000 bond.
