Poetry came alive for the students at Pierceton Elementary recently when Poetry Alive!, a team of professional actors, visited the school and presented programs for all students. The shows were interactive and supported the work of classroom teachers in helping the students meet the Indiana State Academic Standards in this area. Students learned about speaking fluently and with expression when reading poems. They were able to identify features of poetry discussed in class such as rhythm, rhyme, voice and so on. The program was sponsored by the Honeywell Center. Pictured are PES students Alex Hurley and Austin Seban, who helped the Poetry Alive! team act out one of the poems.
