PNC Holds Open HouseThe only new PNC Bank location in Indiana was put on display Wednesday evening.
The new Warsaw location at 220 W. Market St. is replacing the former downtown branch on South Buffalo Street.
National City Banks will all become PNC Banks starting Monday morning.
The Market Street location is the only one in Indiana where an exsisting location wasn't used."It's the crown jewel of Indiana," said Michael Joyce, PNC's retail market manager for Indiana.
The conversion of area National City banks to PNC is the final of four phases.
In the first three phases, 980 banks have been converted to PNC.
This weekend, 390 more branches, with 137 branches in Indiana, will be converted to complete the transition of National City Bank to PNC.
PNC took over National City Bank Dec. 31, 2008.
During the transition to PNC, Joyce said all the current locations were reviewed.
With the lease running up on the Buffalo Street location, as well as the second and third floors not being used, Joyce said it was a good time to look for a new location.
The new branch will have a coffee station for customers as well as a Web station that will allow customers to get online.
The 3,900 square-foot facility was also remodeled with green initatives.
"We want to be as environmentally concious as possible," said Joyce.
Joyce said green buildings have been a focus of PNC for the past five years.
That includes more energy-efficient lighting and plumbing down to the flooring.
The new branch will still house investment services and has conference room to accomadate customers.
Joyce said since PNC has been doing conversions, each wave comes with less and less problems.
While debit cards and account numbers will change, one thing that will carry over to PNC is the Points program from National City.
Joyce also said new PNC customers can take part in the bank's Virtual Wallet program
The program is an online program that allows management of checking, reserve and savings accounts.
The new branch also has a walk-up ATM.
The ATM at the drive thru branch next to the Market Street location will remain available as well.
With the additon of former National City Bank customers, PNC is now the fifth largest bank in the U.S.
Joyce said that despite being such a large bank, PNC will be geared toward local service with things like credit decisions still being made locally.
PNC employs about 56,000 people though the company doens't release local branch employee numbers.
