ORLANDO – Though the Indiana Pacers suffered their first loss in summer league action, Warsaw native Miles Plumlee turned in another strong performance. Plumlee, the team’s first-round draft pick, scored 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked three shots for the Pacers, who fell 85-77 to the Boston Celtics. Indiana is now 2-1 in summer league action, while Boston improved to 3-0. The Pacers play the Utah Jazz today, and will face the Brooklyn Nets Friday. Games are being played at the Amway Center in Orlando. Through three games, the 6-foot-11, 255-pound Plumlee is averaging 14 points and seven rebounds per game. He averaged six points per game during his senior season for the Duke Blue Devils, but has been able to showcase his offensive skills for the Pacers. Plumlee had two highlight reel dunks against the Celtics, one on 6-10 third-year player Sean Williams, and the other on 7-foot rookie and first-round pick Fab Melo. Lance Stephenson led the Pacers in scoring with a game-high 19 points, while Plumlee was the only other Indiana player in double figures. Orlando Johnson, the Pacers’ second-round draft pick, and former Huntington North High School and Purdue University standout Chris Kramer scored nine points each. Rookie Jared Sullinger, Boston’s first-round pick from Ohio State, led the Celtics with 16 points and eight rebounds, while E’Twaun Moore scored 15 points and Kris Joseph and Jamar Smith scored 12 points each in the win.
