Plumlee Makes National Team

The USA Basketball Men's U18 National Team has been announced.

Among those selected to the 12-member squad is Winona Lake's Mason Plumlee, who played his freshman season at Warsaw Community High School before transferring to Christ School in Arden, N.C., where he is a two-time state champion and an all-conference and all-state selection.The nation's best 18-and-under players participated in a three-day trial last week in Washington D.C. The team was first cut to 14 players, and was then trimmed to 12 players on Tuesday.

The 12 players that were selected will compete in the FIBA Americas U18 Championship July 14-18 in Formosa, Argentina.

Team USA won the gold medal in last summer's games.

Plumlee, who has committed to play collegiately for Mike Krzyzewski at Duke University, will be a senior in the fall at Christ School. He is the only player on the team from Indiana.

Bob McKillop, the coach at Davidson College, will serve as the team's head coach. He will be assisted by Virginia Commonwealth's Anthony Grant and Georgetown's John Thompson III.

Joining Plumlee on the team are Dominic Cheek (Jersey City, N.J.), JaMychal Green (Montgomery, Ala.), Matt Humphrey (Chicago, Ill.), Ryan Kelly (Raleigh, N.C.), Malcom Lee (Riverside, Calif.), Leslie McDonald (Memphis, Tenn.), Travis Releford (Shawnee Mission, Kan.), Kemba Walker (New York, N.Y.), Maalik Wayns (Philadelphia, Pa.) and twins David and Travis Wear (Santa Ana, Calif).
