ORLANDO – Being picked in the first round of June’s NBA Draft was a dream come true for Warsaw native Miles Plumlee. July hasn’t been bad either. Participating in the NBA Summer League in Orlando, the 6-foot-11, 255-pound Plumlee earned first-team honors after averaging 13 points and seven rebounds for the Indiana Pacers. Plumlee was joined on the first-team by teammate Lance Stephenson, Utah’s Alec Burks, Orlando’s Andrew Nicholson and Detroit’s Austin Daye. There were also five players selected to the second-team, and 12 others selected to the honorable mention list. Among the second-team selections were Boston Celtics rookie and former Ohio State star Jared Sullinger. Former Purdue standout and current Boston player E’Twaun Moore was among those on the honorable mention list. Though he averaged a mere six points per game as a senior for the Duke Blue Devils, Plumlee was the 26th overall pick in last month’s draft. In the Summer League in Orlando, he was able to showcase some of his offensive skills, something college fans didn’t really get to see while he was in Duke’s perimeter-oriented offense. In five games this week, Plumlee scored at least nine points in each game. Against the Celtics on Wednesday, Plumlee had 18 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots.
