Plant Cells

Posted
September 14 was a special day in Mrs. Potts’ fifth grade at South Whitley Elementary School.

Students used their knowledge of plant cells to make a model of one using a sugar cookie and some tasty toppings. The plant cell included a cell wall (cookie), cell membrane (pudding), fruit by the foot for the nucleus; jello (cytoplasm); M&M’s for mitochondria; Mike & Ike’s for chloroplasts; and marshmallows for vacuoles. The students had a yummy time learning about cells.
