Wednesday, David and Karen Zigon received approval from the Kosciusko County Area Plan Commission for a preliminary plat for a residential development on 0.062 acres.
The petition is actually for a replat of lot 62 of Lincoln Park, fifth addition. The intent is to move a drainage and utility easement 10 feet to the west. By moving the easement, a proposed swimming pool can be accommodated.
The property is on the southwest side of Gettysburg Court and 200 feet south of Walnut Street in Wayne Township.
Kosciusko County Surveyor and plan commission member Dick Kemper said moving the easement should not cause a complication. "I don't see a problem," he said.
The plan commission unanimously approved the petition.
In another matter, assistant planner Matt Sandy said a logging company wants to store logs at the southeast corner of CR 200N and Ind. 13 intersection. The area is commercially zoned.
Such a business is not covered for a commercial district under the county's current ordinances. Sandy said the plan commission must approve the company's request to have a hearing before the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals for a special exception. At the BZA hearing, more details of what the company plans to do will come out, said Sandy.
"As far as I know, it's a full-time use," said Sandy when asked if the log storage was part- or full-time.
Plan commission director Dan Richard said the plan commission believes the business is consistent with a commercial district. However, he did not make any recommendations, just asked the plan commission to approve the BZA to hear the petition so more information can come out.
The request for the exception to be heard by the BZA was unanimously approved.
In other business, the plan commission:
Approved unanimously the final plat for Morgan Elmwood Heights by R.L. Morgan for a residential development on the north side of Hatchery Road and 1,000 feet west of Hiawatha Lane in Turkey Creek Township.
Approved Sycamore Fields LLC's petition for a final plat for an Ag II development on a 26.214-acre tract by a vote of 7 to 1. Voting against the final plat was plan commission member Kelly Easterday. The property is at the corner of CR 450N and Sullivan Road in Tippecanoe Township.
Members of the plan commission present Wednesday were Kevin McSherry, Barb Carwile, Norm Lovell, Don Ahrms, chairman Vic Virgil, Kelly Easterday, Dick Kemper and Charlie Haffner. The commission meets at 1 p.m. in the Kosciusko County courthouse, Warsaw, on the first Wednesday of every month.
