Warsaw Plan Commission Monday night approved a resolution to amend the northern economic development area to include a commercial development project.
The project is creating 82,000 square feet of retail space to be developed by Thompson-Thrift north of Kohl’s.
Warsaw City Council will need to approve a $1.2 million bond for the project at its Monday meeting, and the redevelopment commission will review final bond approval in December.
Jeff Grose, commission member, made the motion to approve the resolution, seconded by Jim Gast, commission member.
Commission members Rick Keeven, Lacy Francis, Tom Allen and George Clemens also voted in favor of the resolution.
Grose said he was in support of the resolution.
“Approving this resolution is our way to invest into the area and breath life into Kohl’s,” Grose said. “At the end of the day it is a good idea to invest in this.”
Keeven said he agreed.
“We need the amenities and the jobs, and I agree this is something that needs to be done,” Keeven said.
