It may not be as rare as getting hit by lightning or stumbling onto a million dollars, but it's rare nevertheless.
Wednesday, Dennis Paternoster petitioned the Kosciusko County Area Plan Commission to rezone 2.29 acres from a residential district to an agricultural district. The property is on the south side of CR 1290N, on the west side of CR 825E in Turkey Creek Township.
Many petitioners want to rezone property from an agricultural district to a residential district, not the other way around as did Pasternoster. The petition was approved unanimously 8 to 0.
Dennis L. Replogle petitioned the plan commission to rezone 5.76 acres from an agricultural district to a residential district. It was approved by a vote of 5 to 3. The property is on the south side of CR 1250N and north of Beer Road in Van Buren Township.
Continued until the Aug. 2 meeting was James Shepherd's petition to rezone 12.83 acres from an agricultural district to an agricultural 2 district. The property is on the south side of CR 100S and west of CR 550W in Harrison Township.
The plan commission is only a recommending board to the Kosciusko County Commissioners. The rezonings approved Wednesday will go before the commissioners on July 18 at 10 a.m. for final approval.
Members of the plan commission include Kelly Easterday, Don Ahrms, Kevin McSherry, Charlie Haffner, Richard Kemper, Norman Lovell, Vic Virgil and Barbara Carwile. Plan Commission director is Dan Richard.
