Plan Commission Allows Yellow Creek Lake Vacations

Posted
Two road vacations at the Roy Hohman subdivision were approved for favorable recommendations Wednesday afternoon.

The first was on the northside of Yellow Creek Lake. Gerald Shank petitioned to vacate an unused roadway between his two properties on CR 850S.

Attorney Steve Harris represented Shank.

Harris explained that there is no other access to any property on the road, which runs 18 feet wide and 100 feet deep.

The board unanimously approved giving a favorable recommendation to the Kosciusko County Commissioners at their March 15 meeting.

The commissioners will hear the petition at 9:15 a.m.

The second vacation request came for Roy Drive in the Roy Hohman subdivision.

Previously, another resident requested to vacate a portion of undeveloped roadway along Yellow Creek Lake.

Attorney Richard Helm represented the three petitioners and noted that the plan commission's technical committee had no problem with the road vacation.

There were no final plats up for review Wednesday afternoon.

A rezoning petition that has appeared before the plan commission was once again continued.

Don Impey previously petitioned to rezone ground from an agricultural district to a residential district on property located on Ind. 13, 2,300 feet west of CR 650E in Turkey Creek Township.

Area Plan Director Dan Richard said his department, as well as the health department, were still looking for more information regarding the property.

A vacation of a roadway on the southside of Hoffman Lake was also continued to next month's meeting.

Richard said the vacation request will probably come in at some point in the future with more petitioners.

The board also tabled discussion on its rules of procedure as well as an erosion control ordinance.

The plan commission's next meeting is April 6 at 1 p.m. in the old courtroom at the Kosciusko County Courthouse.

Plan commission members are Vic Virgil, Chuck Haffner, Dick Kemper, Bob Conley, Dr. Lee Harman, Keith Hardy, James Moyer, Kevin McSherry and Larry Coplen.

Virgil and Coplen were absent from Wednesday's meeting.
