Third-grade students at Pierceton Elementary School held their annual Wax Museum May 14. The students researched a famous person by reading a book or Internet articles about him/her and taking notes about their lives. They then wrote their speeches using the notes and included what they are remembered for. They also found a prop that represented their people. Once the speeches were finished they had about four weeks to memorize them. On Wax Museum day they dressed as their famous people and presented their speeches for parents, other relatives and friends, and the second-grade students who will get to do the project next year. Many of the students said that this was their favorite writing assignment for the year and they enjoyed acting like wax museum figures and giving their speeches to a large and appreciative audience.
