Pierceton Town Republican Convention Monday

Posted
PIERCETON – The Pierceton town Republican convention is Monday at 6 p.m. in the Pierceton Town Hall Community Room.
South Whitley’s town Republican convention is Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. in the Whitko High School auditorium.
In Pierceton, the convention will determine the next clerk-treasurer from four candidates: Stephanie Campbell, Dustin Hurt, Jerry Kreger and Nancy Linn. Only one name will appear on the ballot for the clerk-treasurer’s office in November’s municipal election.
The deadline for a Democrat candidate to file has passed and none have filed.
In South Whitley, voters will determine which Republican candidate appears on the ballot for clerk-treasurer, either Bob Gould or Janet Howard.
Dawn Boggs is the Democrat candidate for clerk-treasurer in South Whitley.
The convention also will sort out the three Republican candidates for town council between Frank Baldridge, Randall C. Cokl, Matt Dickmeyer, Judith Earnhart, Leslie Hoffman, Stephen P. Smith and Tony Starkey. The top three candidates will be challenged by Democrat Bill Boggs and Libertarian Douglas R. Morrissey.
Lila O’Connell is the Pierceton convention chairwoman, and Jorell Tucker is the South Whitley convention chairman.
Registered Republican voters, people who voted Republican in the most recent primary election, or people who claim an affiliation with the Republican Party but did not vote in the 2010 primary, will be allowed to participate.
Voters must live in town limits and be physically present. An accepted form of identification is required to register to vote in the town convention.
Candidates are chosen by the majority vote. If 100 voters participate in the convention and vote for two candidates, the voting continues until one candidate receives 51 or more votes.
