PIERCETON - Pierceton Town Council heard about Pierceton Days and railroad tracks in disrepair among other things at Monday's monthly meeting.
Chip Hill, street and water superintendent, asked the board if they could draft a letter to the railroad concerning where the track crosses Ind. 13 on the southbound lane near the town's police station. The board made a motion to not only draft a letter to the railroad, but also to the Indiana Department of Transportation.
Kim Rose told the board that Pierceton Days are July 31 and Aug 1. This year's theme is "Small Town Cowboy," and Sharon Lane will be the parade's grand marshal.
During Town Marshal Tim Sammons' report, he told the board a triathlon will be held June 27 and that the bicycling part would run through town between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.
Sammons also said he's looking into using E-Ticket to issue moving violations.
The board was told there would be an attempt at an open house featuring the town's police officers Sept. 6, which is Labor Day, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the community center. Sammons said that date isn't set in stone, but that it's hard to find a time when the town's three officers could be available.
Board President Jerry Hartman notified the public that the Pierceton American Legion would hold a flag-burning ceremony Sunday at 3 p.m. in the east end of the legion's parking lot.
Pam Kennedy, from Housing Opportunities of Warsaw, was at the meeting and the board approved her requests for refinancing to several homes.
Kennedy notified the board that Day of Caring will be Aug. 26, and handed out information about it.
